gEco was formed in 2002 by a team of MBA students from Hitotsubashi University in Tokyo seeking to find a sustainable business model that tempers a growing concern for the environment.

EXECUTIVE MANAGEMENT   

Tei A. Gordon (Nakamura)

President and CEO

An entrepreneur and consultant, Gordon is a former partner and founder in the Tokyo and Silicon Valley-based firm "Aja Ventures," where he managed ventures and facilitated cross-border venture capital and M&As.  With an understanding of both starting companies and venture capital, Gordon will leverage his startup experience to bring companies to market quickly.  He is currently a Global Communications Advisor to one of the worlsds largest telecommunications companies - NTT Communications and a visiting-lecturer in corporate strategy at Waseda University's Nakazawa Academy.  He is a former a former Assistant Director of Research at JETRO (Japan External Trade Organization), where he assisted companies - both foreign and Japanese - with developing and expanding their operations in Japan and overseas. He has a solid background in international trade and negotiations, having worked as a trader for Mitsubishi Corporation.  Gordon was a regular author of a column in the Japan Business Daily concerning venture capital, technology, global economics, startups and telecommunications.  He is the recipient of the prestigious New York Times Award for Entrepreneurial Achievement. Mr. Gordon received his BA degree in Asian Studies and Business Management from the University of Oregon and holds an MBA degree from Hitotsubashi University.

Sven Jensen

Chief Technical Officer and co-founder

Jensen is the architect of the gEco's technology commercialization and implementation plan.  He worked previously in the environmental engineering firm LURGI-mg technology in Essen, Germany, where he managed proposals for turnkey engineering contracts for power plant equipment in Bulgaria, Brazil, and U.K., worth EUR 60 to 100 million.  Furthermore, he coordinated in-house activities of process, plant and electrical engineering, purchase and legal department.  Jensen was responsible for the timely preparation of proposal files, price estimates at Linde Corp. in Munich, Germany, where he was a Project Manager, and engineer.  He also calculated process designs and created specifications of equipment and package units for waste water treatment plants (WWTP); comprised of gas motors, turbo fans, pumps, centrifuges, mechanical equipment and piping and conducted technical negotiations with sub-suppliers and purchased equipment and worked with air liquefaction and handling of pure oxygen.  Jensen graduated with a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Technical University of Munich, then earned his Masters in Process Engineering from the Univ. of Berlin.  Sven is fluent in French, German and English and received his MBA from Hitotsubashi University.

Masuo Kawamoto

Chief Financial Officer and co-founder

leverages eight years of financial management experience at COSMO OIL CO., LTD. to oversee contracting and financial planning at gEco.  At Cosmo, Kawamoto traded oil futures, swaps and forwards with net 1999-2001 profits of $18 million.  He proposed and executed risk management plans for the company's assets, such as oil stocks and vessel positions, as well as for its customers.  He prepared budget proposals for the board of directors and has authored and published numerous market reports.  Kawamoto leverages considerable international management experience at COSMO OIL PLC in London.  As a manager there, he traded crude oil, petroleum products, LPG, futures, swaps and forwards, proposed and executed arbitrage trading strategies for the head office.  He led contract negotiations with State-owned oil companies, major oil companies and traders, led trouble shooting and exchange of information as a liaison, compiled reports on trends in oil market and energy industry and executed financial leave orders such as FOREX and eligible funding for the head office.  Kawamoto received his Bachelor of Management Science from Kobe University of Commerce, where he majored in mathematical statistics.  He is fluent in Japanese and English and earned his MBA from Hitotsubashi University.

Kazu Ouchi

Chief Operations Officer and co-founder

Ouchi's operational experiences at Fujitsu, Limited, are invaluable to gEco's execution and implementation.  His contacts at Fujitsu help gEco to access key manufacturing and licensing opportunities.  He brings comprehensive project management, particularly of computer system development teams, a strong record in providing administrative and technical support using IT skills and experience in developing stock exchange related systems for the Osaka Stock Exchange and NASDAQ JAPAN.  He has held various operational management positions, such as project manager, where he was responsible for overseeing 40 team members.  Fluent in Japanese and English, Ouchi earned a bachelors degree from Osaka City University and has his MBA from Hitotsubashi University.   

Teru Tatebe

Chief Marketing Officer and co-founder

Tatebe has comprehensive experience in business development, sales, marketing and customer satisfaction from his career at Matsushita Electronics (Panasonic).  His networks at Matsushita, business development skills, knowledge of market and business development skills are key to successfully executing gEco's business plan.  As a sales and marketing manager at Matsushita in Singapore, he sold manufacturing robots (SMT machines) to Japanese electronics manufacturers in Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, India and Indonesia.  Furthermore, he established a broad network with Japanese customers Sony, Mitsubishi, Sharp, Sanyo, etc.  Tatebe was a top sales manager from among 28 sales companies under the Factory Automation Division, where he achieved net sales of $US 32 million in 1999.  Tatebe is a graduate of Meiji University, where he earned his bachelors degree in Political Science in 1991 and is fluent in Japanese and English and has his MBA from Hitotsubashi University.

Richard A. Gordon: CEO, GAI, Advisor. Globally, Mr. Gordon is one of the most sought after professional engineers in the field of energy conservation.  He leverages a 35-year legacy built on the career of 40-years of accumulated experienced of Jack S. Gordon, P.E., and brings experience in the design and analysis of HVAC systems.  His focus is on the design of HVAC systems in hot, humid climates. for gEco he will lend technical expertise to seek out knew opportunities and evaluate technologies for prospective investment.  Gordon's clients include governments, universities, hospitals and some of the largest global conglomerates.

BOARD OF ADVISORS

Dr. Satoshi Akutsu: Satoshi Akutsu is an Associate Professor at Graduate School of International Corporate Strategy, Hitotsubashi University. He has a joint appointment at the Department of Commerce at Hitotsubashi University. His interdisciplinary research area involves both psychology (especially decision-making, social cognition, and cultural psychology) and economics (especially game theory and experimental economics). Currently, he is interested in studying decision-making process in negotiation, knowledge management, and marketing.

Hidenori Amano: CEO, AGENT JAPAN.  A specialist in techinical personnel outsourcing, Amano started AGENT from scrath and developed into a company boasting over 80 technical personnel.  He is a graduate of Aoyma Gakuin University in Tokyo.

Sharaf Arifkhanov: CEO and Founder of a successful

Teppei Ikeda: A  serial entrepreneur and philanthropist, Mr. Ikeda is a former bond trader for the Bank of Yokohama and executive of a telecommunications company.  He is currently a corporate trainer for some of the biggest financial institutions in Japan.  

Dr. Ken Kusunoki, PhD.: Ken Kusunoki is an Associate Professor at the Graduate School of International Corporate Strategy, Hitotsubashi University.  His current research focuses on (a) organizational capabilities for innovation, (b) business architecture and sustainable competitive advantage, and (c) managing and leading organizational concept creation. He has conducted consulting and executive seminars for many Japanese leading companies.  His research has appeared in many books and academic journals, as well as a number of articles for business magazines.
